I’m trying to install the Unreal Engine but my installer keeps having a connection issue. I had many issues just downloading the installer as I kept getting the message “server not found” when I clicked on the download link. I tried a few different browsers and computers at my office and they all had the same issue. I finally managed to get the installer to download and installed, but now I’m running into the same problem with getting the Engine installed.
Have you restarted your computer since these errors started occurring? If not, could you please restart your computer and see if you can download any version of the Editor? If it’s specific to 4.7.3, we’d like to know.
Also, could you please include your DxDiag with your next response? You can obtain this by going to your start menu, searching for ‘dxdiag’ and running the ‘dxdiag.exe’ program that populates. Once the program is loaded, press the ‘save all information’ button and save the information as a text file.

Getting Debug :
There is a special log file that we require in order to troubleshoot the issue. To access this log, please open the Launcher and do the following:
From Inside the Launcher:
In the top-right of the Launcher, click the Gear icon.
Select ‘Enable dubug logging’ and then choose ‘Enable Now’. If you issue occurs at launch or sign in, Select ‘Enable debug logging’ and then choose ‘Restart’
Reproduce the issue your experiencing while the debug logging is on.
After Reproducing your issue go back to the Gear icon and select ‘show launcher log’
The Debugging will be the most recent backup file in the list.
Place this log in a Zip file and attach it to your AnswerHub report.
Back in the Launcher, select the Settings icon again and select ‘Disable debug logging’ or close your launcher.
I’ve attached the log and my dxdiag in a single zip as I can’t attach 2 files for some reason. I have rebooted and confirmed that my firewall has an exception.
Can you direct me to where I would find the other installers?
I have seen that other people have mentioned they’ve had an issue with the installation due to a permissions issue for the temp folder where files are stored during an install. Does the installer use this location as well because if it does my guess is that this is the issue as I’ve had problems with other apps because of how IT has the temp folder secured.
The issue is definitely a problem only on my end. I’ve asked IT staff to look into the problem and they’re unable to access the same links as well from within the network. Apparently some of our network tools to auto-filter content are too aggressive and that’s why the links aren’t working but even IT is surprised at not only the pages being blocked but that they’re being presented as a server not responding message.
Re: Maximusdb3. I got the installer off the Unreal Engine dashboard page. My ISP is Comcast and it’s a 30Mbps connection.
Our new IT staff looked at the network configuration and found that our previous IT staff made DNS zones for anything gaming related and pointed them to nothing. This is why I couldn’t contact Epic’s websites. It’s resolved now. Thanks.
