I have been using UE 4.9, but earlier today I was unable to launch and the normal launch option said “repair.” since then I have been trying over and over and over again to download and install any version of UE4. I’ve tried 4.9, 10, 11, and 12. Every single time, the download completes, and it gets stuck on the install. I’ve been to the troubleshooting pages, I uninstalled every download of UE4, uninstalled launcher, removed prerequesites, and still not one download will install. I have been trying and searching everywhere on the internet for 15 hours.
Hey, first, I would suggest you take a little break. It gets frustrating sometimes. Cleanup your system, by that I mean, if you dont need the older versions, delete all the garbage folders left after the uninstall is done. Clean your C drive, clean your install location, dont leave any folders all files from previous installs, clean your ‘My Documents’ folder and I would also suggest that Uninstall Visual and its libraries if present.
Now try installing fresh version of epic launcher, then UE4.12 and then Visual 2015 community (if needed). Hope this helps. Also, installing time varies depending on whether you have a HDD or SSD. Good Luck
I removed all older versions, went through and removed all folders and files related to UE4, uninstalled launcher and UE4 Prerequisites, shut down the computer. Reinstalled Launcher and still had the problem. But then I tried running Launcher as administrator, and the installation finally worked.
