Unable to download source code from Github (even with accounts linked)

I started by simply typing “Unreal engine source code” into google. Ideally I want UE4.27 source code. I wish to build my own version of the engine and I wish to not have Epic Launcher on my system.

When I visit Downloading Unreal Engine Source Code | Unreal Engine 4.27 Documentation it tells me three steps I must do before I can access the code.

But I have done all of those, and still I get error 404 at the Github.

I also notice, that when I go to the specific page on the Unreal website (ie. The one that points you towards the github repo) my login name disappears at top of screen and is replaced by an “empty globe wireframe” image. If that image is clicked it just gives options to change language to Chinese etc.

I’ve tried resetting my cache etc, and tried other browsers. I just want the code as a zip file really, don’t actually need access to the github repo.

Thanks for any help

Hey there @ChongyStudio! Did you receive the email inviting your to the Epic Games org on Github? When you look at the organizations you’re in on Github does it show the Epic Games org? That needs to be done before the link matters. It’s described on this page here:

Once you’re invited to the organization and accept it, that page will no longer lead to a 404.
