Datasmith palette appears in ArchiCAD/Window/Pallets as it should. But nothing happens when trying to display it. Twinmotion waits for the connection - but nothing happensl. Been using Twinmotion with ArchiCAD for several versions now - no issues with previous versions.

Hi,
I just experienced the same problem. I installed my brand new version of Archicad 25 and the Datasmith add-on. The add-on shows in the window/paletts but once i click on it, nothing happens.
It would be great if you could help.
cheers.
Hi,
If you are not seeing any error messages, you may be experiencing the same issue I had. Be sure the latest version of Twinmotion is also installed.
We found that the little command palette was being placed behind an open window when opened. This can be checked by reducing all open windows, or closing other running programs on your monitor(s). Our palette was found hiding on a 2nd monitor. The solution was to drag it to the preferred location on the ArchiCAD screen, then lock it in place by saving the new configuration. We save our custom configurations under Options/Work Environment/Workspace Schemes and Command Layout Schemes. Then it's always available and in the same location.
Hope this helps!
Hi,
this is exactly what happened. The little window was hidden.
Datasmith is working fine now. Thank you.
Vincent:
So good to hear from you.
Resending info via Epic link you noted. No error messages noted, but in ArchiCAD, the Datasmith icon is displayed in Window/Palettes as it should. Clicking on it does not open the command palette - nothing happens. So can not transmit data to Twinmotion. In Twinmotion 2022.1.2, the open ArchiCAD file is correctly displayed, but no link is established to transfer file info.
When loading the latest version of Twinmotion (as prompted when opening Twinmotion), it appeared to upgrade OK. When I could not link the data in ArchiCAD, I looked through your solutions of newer versions of the apx and dll files for ArchiCAD. Removed previous versions and installed both files correctly. Then ArchiCAD would not start at all.
Removed your files and substituted the ones directly from the Epic site. ArchiCAD then opened normally, but the Datasmith palette still would not display.

So good to hear from you again! Hope all is going well for you. It’s been a bit crazy around here - but will update you if you provide a phone #. I can’t find yours, so must have filed it in the wrong place.
I recently upgraded to ArchiCAD 25 and Windows 11. Started working on a new project, but when I was ready to use Twinmotion, this series of events happened:
-
The Twinmotion start page noted a new version available. Since
things change with new OS and all, I choose to update from the 2021
version. -
Went to Datasmith command pallete in ArchitCAD. IT would not open.
-
Went to Epic help and community sites. Saw updated Datasmith files
and downloaded them from the Epic site. -
Removed existing Datasmith apx file from ArchiCAD file structure
and installed Epic version 2022. I did not remove the dll file (didn’t
catch that). -
Restarted ArchiCAD - same issue with Datasmith command palette not
opening. -
Removed both new apx and dll files. Restarted ArchiCAD
sucessfully. Shut down. -
Installed your latest version of both files. ArchiCAD would not start.
-
Removed your 2 files and replaced them with the ones listed on
Epic site. ArchiCAD would now start normally - but Datasmith command
palette still would not open. -
Sent out distress messages… (of course, I have a client meeting
Wed. who needs these renderings).
Any ideas? Datasmith older version was working with ArchiCAD24. But we
moved jobs to v25. Cant go back.
Thanks!
Hello ,
Thank you for the details on the steps you took. Typically when you switch from Archicad 24 to Archicad 25 you will need to fully uninstall the Datasmith Exporter plugin then reinstall it so it finds the latest Archicad on your machine. Not sure what exactly did not work on your end but we will help get this resolved.
Thank you for submitting a case and I will respond to you momentarily.
Kind regards,
Vincent B.
