Hello, I was trying today to connect my Epic Games account to Github, so I could access the source build and continue work on my project. Unfortunately, no matter what I do or try, after successfully authorising Epic Games on my Github account (getting an email from Github about a new OAuth2 app being authorised in the process) the epic site just spits out the error below, stating “accountid is required”. I’ve tried using Chrome, Chrome Incognito, Firefox, Edge. I’ve tried using and not using a VPN, I’ve tried using new Epic accounts and new Github accounts, and all have the same result. I’m kind of at a loss, so if anyone can provide any advice I’d be greatly appreciative.
Hey there @PolyrogueGames! Welcome to the community! Let’s see if we can get this sorted. I think it could have something to do with the auth working originally but may not have tied the accounts together.
Could you open the site, and navigate over to your personal profile
Just thought I’d report back, I did eventually solve this, I was doing all the steps correctly and I have no idea at all what was going on - it still showed as not having connected my Github. In the end, I did this process from my phone. It would repeatedly close the github login screen and just kick me back to the connections page on the unreal engine website, but crucially it didn’t give me the error ever, so I tried again. I tried that process about four times, and on the final one it finally worked.
Hopefully that serves as a workaround for anyone who experiences this issue until the error is fixed, I’m still not sure what causes it, but try a different device!
