UMG Background Blur makes the area completely black instead of blurred.
Possibly because I’m using a Mac, or Maybe I’m setting it up in a wrong way.
The image below shows a test widget. It looks the same in PIE.
Confirmed in 5.5.4 and 5.6.1.
I’m also seeing this bug on a Mac. Background Blur is fully opaque if Blur Strength is greater than 0. It’s basically binary alpha. Unreal Editor Version: 5.7.0-47537391+++UE5+Release-5.7, Platform: macOS 26.1 (arm64)
I also ran into this problem, I couldn’t fix the background blur feature, however if you place an image box, arrange the hierarchy so it’s at the back and stretch it to fill the screen (anchor it to the centre) and then make the colour black or white and change the transparency, it achieves almost the same effect. Hope this helps in some way.
