I am working on building a visual programming interface and we are currently at the design phase. We are exploring different possible design options to try out. We have narrowed down our options to 2 possible setups, one that uses a notion of blocks/puzzle pieces like what you find in Scratch Programming and the other that uses a notion of nodes just like what you find in Unreal Blueprints. We want to make an informed decision in choosing which setup to proceed with.
Does anyone have any pointers to any user studies or UX research the Unreal Engine creators have carried out when deciding to proceed with the nodes and lines based setup in Kismet and in Blueprints?
