Just an idea that will probably never be addressed, because it seems so innocuous and minor.
Screen real-estate in Unreal is important like no other software I’ve ever used, especially when using sequencer.
I noticed that when expanding/collapsing panels, docking, closing - the persistent panels calculate a percentage of the available space and resize to the new width. Great, as an option.
But the result is that I’m always re-adjusting the panels to efficiently show the data, and avoid clipped info.
Take the Sequencer and Curve editor. Move the properties panel of the Sequencer to consume minimal space, while showing all the actor properties and avoiding data being cropped. Now open the curve editor, to the right of the sequencer - it squishes that sequencer properties panel, so that none of the info I need to see is availale.
Next, resize the panel to show the info efficiently. Close the Curve editor, to find that the Sequencer Properties panel is taking up way too much space. Resize again.
How about an absolute panel width, that doesn’t resize each time the availble space changes?
I swear, I spend half my time adjusting and optimizing panels, from floating actor editors, to MRQ, Levels, Message Log, Sequencer/Curves, Content Browser, Outliner, Properties, 2 viewports, 1 viewport.
This one improvement could go a long way towards keeping the layout consistent and useful.
Thanks
