UI flickering in Editor

I have flickering occurring when hovering over any UI element(which only started two days ago). It happens in both 14.9.2 and 4.20.3. The GPU driver is up to date and I also uninstalled and reinstalled everything(also went back to an older GPU driver and that didn’t fix it). I even swapped the HDMI cords just in case of bad cords and that didn’t fix the issue either. It will flicker even when selecting a template or project before it’s loaded as well. If i do a screen record from the computer you wont see it on the replay so I had to record it externally.

UPDATE: When switching from straight HDMI to VGA on my card it goes away. Wondering if there’s an issue with my HDMI port.

Here is what is happening: Flickering in UE4 UI - YouTube

Any help or direction is appreciated, I’m at wits end.

Nvidia card?

same thing happening to me… though it only started when i updated unreal to 4.20.3, i’m using a gtx 1070ti.

anyone knows a fix or just wait for an UE4 update?

Have the same problem. GTX 1080TI

so still no word from epic on this? i tried the 4.21 preview but it’s still happening…

What driver are you on? I am using 416.34

same, but i started having this problem on 416.16, so i’m waiting on a friend of mine to try it in his computer then i’ll probably downgrade to 411.70 to see if it works.

btw i just downloaded unreal 4.18 and it’s still flickering, so i guess it’s the nvidia driver =\

I have the same problem, and i found solution in HDR on my DELL S2419HM, I just turn it off and flickering is gone.

Yup! That would be correct.

that didn’t work for me =, also i just downgraded the nvidia drivers to 411.70 and it still flickers .

so… i finally fixed it, turning on the HDR and WCG on the display settings.

For anyone trying to do this while having their UI flickering therefore hiding the necessary panel to access editor preferences:

Use your keyboard instead of your mouse, with TAB, directional keys and SPACE you can access anything in the UI

I have a geforce 3060 in a gl76 msi laptop, and I was experiencing this issue, I have fixed it going in the Nvidia control panel → manage 3d settings → restore, to reset the settings to default, it has worked also on my workstation with a quadro rtx 4000 where UE5 always crashed with exception_access_violation crash message in the crash log. Just reset the nvidia 3d settings to default and make sure you have the latest drivers

If anyone still is struggling with this flickering issue, you can check if your dpi scaling is set to “allow high DPI in game mode” as this was the issue for me but toggling it off fixed it, and might fix it for others facing the same problem.
Just go to: Project Settings->Engine: User Interface->DPI Scaling, then uncheck the toggle box which says “Allow high DPI in game mode”.
This might reduce the game quality drastically, but at least will fix the flickering issue.
Hope this helps!

What fixed it for me was disabling the adaptive sync setting of my monitor.
maybe this helps.

I solved it with unreal 5.4

Recently I updated the Nvidia App Beta from my last Geforce experience in which I updated the settings of the Unreal engine for the Game Filter color corrector which game me the same problem. and simply just by turning the filter to none solved it…
