UFO Spawner Cannon does not trigger damage like the Gun does

We have a level in our island that players use the UFO and fly over to targets (triggers) that they shoot at with the Cannon and it is supposed to cause damage to cause the trigger to fire. It does show damage from the cannon on the mesh, but, the trigger never fires. If we instead use a gun the player is holding and shoot the trigger with the gun it does trigger damage and causes the trigger to fire. Any ideas on why the UFO Cannon does not trigger damage but the gun trigger does? At this point we will have to redesign that quest on the island if we can’t find a way around it. Thanks.
