UEFN Props Question

I am new to UEFN and have a question on stuff we can include. I am hoping someone may know. I know they say no trademark or copywrite stuff, so I assume cars like Knight Rider and General Lee an not be added, but what about regular cars like a 65 Mustang, etc.? Also, can we put our logos in a map? How about picture’s of pets or pictures we have taken of landscapes? I know in the rules it says know pictures of people. But I am no seeing anything about animals or landscapes. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know.

Hey there @Badwolfpro1! Licensed vehicles, people’s likenesses, trademarked IPs of any sort are not allowed under the EULA, only content you legally own or license. The supplementary EULA goes into more detail in section 6 here:

Does that include regular cars like Mustangs, Fords, Dodge, etc. Or is that refering to ones from movies and tv like the General Lee, KITT, etc.

Any IP that you don’t own could land both you (and Epic) in legal trouble. So the General Lee’s likeness and name is owned by whoever owns the Dukes of Hazard. Since the IP isn’t ours and we can’t get a license, that would be a problem. Same with KITT from Nightrider.

Making an indirect reference as long as it’s not a direct copy is usually less of a problem, but it can’t be too close. Maybe the Corporal Jones and KAAT make an appearance instead.

OK, I just wasn’t going to include Cars like the General Lee Or KITT, but I do like your idea on changing it some.

But what about regular cars like Mustangs, Fords, Dodge, etc.? I am just wondering because I want to have a garage on a map in a mansion that has a car collection in it, so I am just trying to make sure I understand what type of cars are and are not allowed.

Thank you for the help so far!

John

No problem! So you can’t have a Mustang per se, but a car that looks kind of like a Mustang isn’t 100% out of the question, as long as it isn’t clearly a branded vehicle and isn’t too close in similarity there’s less likely to be issues with clearing. So it can be inspired by a Mustang, but not actually one. Does that make sense?

It’s nice to have those answers from a staff member, It would be great if we could give those insight to the whole community someday :+1:

The EULA has most of this information present, however final say goes to the team that reviews the islands. Avoiding using any other IP other than your own and what you license (or Epic licenses to you) is important for protecting you from lawsuits and your island application being rejected, so I stress it whenever possible to try and come up with something unique.
