UEFN – Projects not saving and disappearing after closing

Hello,

I am experiencing a major issue with Unreal Editor for Fortnite.

I am unable to properly create or save new maps. Each time I create a new project, it seems to reuse the same file, and changes are not saved.

Also, when I save and close the editor, the project completely disappears and is no longer visible in the project list.

Here are the issues:

  • Unable to create a new independent map

  • Changes are not saved

  • Synchronization does not work

  • Project seems stuck on an old file

  • After closing UEFN, the project disappears entirely

Expected result:
I should be able to create, save, and reopen projects normally.

Actual result:
Projects do not save and disappear after closing the editor.

Platform: PC

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a new project

  2. Make changes

  3. Save the project

  4. Close UEFN

  5. Reopen → project is missing

Thank you for your help.

hi @Kaco_officiellll ,

Just a quick check do you have anything in your OneDrive as a project file path.

The default for Windows 11 documents is OneDrive

you must have

C:\Users\OwnerName\Documents\Fortnite Projects\MyProject

you can put this project on another drive

like

D:\Documents\Fortnite Projects\MyProject

The path below is WRONG see highlighted OneDrive

C:\Users\OwnerName\OneDrive\Documents\MyProjects

This also affects saving to Unreal Revision Control will break

There is a UEFN warning on trying to create a new project on OneDrive, which can be easily ignored

If you are connected to a Windows 11 Enterprise you will need authority from your Administrator as the files are put on a remote server like for Example CloudX.

The path must be local PC storage

Make sure “open previous project on startup”
