I would love to see a measuring tape tool in UEFN, as well as an addition to input real dimensions into scales within the details panel, such as millimeters, centimeters, meters, feet etc… This would help me create meshes with a a realistic scale to reference.
I agree. Example: brands will often ask to rebuild IRL locations or assets, having measurements will help!
Thanks, I tracked the request. Units in UEFN and UE are all done in cm. (When you create a box in modeling mode, it comes it at 100 cm square.) I’m not aware of any way to easily use standard units.
I don’t think it’s exactly what you’re looking for, but there is a measuring tape in UEFN that comes from Unreal 5. If you change to an Orthographic few in the upper left of the viewport, you can middle mouse click and drag and that deploys a measuring tape. In this example I measure the snow hut to be 10m by 11m.
You can also change this to Km or M as you need in the editor preferences. Don’t forget to turn off snapping to free measure.
Hope it helps.
This is great! Very helpful You’re correct, it isnt exactly what I was looking for but knowing it is cm, m & km helps a lot. Appreciate the video!!
