Literally nothing from all the biggest issues that UEFN had when launched have been addressed.
Making large games will still cause your game to break in some way every update, creators will steal anything they can to make a quick buck and leech, the game is still massive, takes a lot of performance to work and even with a great internet connection you still have to wait a lot to do most gamedev tasks.
When are we going to address all these major issues? There is so much innovation being crushed right now, most large studios have gone bankrupt due to how bad the engagement system has turned into, lack of creator support makes it not worthwhile to be excited about loading into a 90’s interface and waiting for a while then doing something and waiting for a while.
This week alone so many games have been broken by untested new updates. We have to use 30% of our time to play QA and that’s IF we are heard. PCs are crashing left and right trying to run UEFN and nobody cares. Like what is happening? I thought we were in a good spot for a while, but its so unfortunate now that I lose my motivation within loading the editor. And I just came back from a break too.
I used to build for 12-hr straight sessions, and now I am bored within 10 mins because I am used to open another software while waiting.
And that’s putting aside all the features we actually need but exploiters are making it impossible for us to enjoy them, like level-linking, player controls, multiple UEFNs running, offline testing etc.
Lastly, on every chance any dedicated creator asks for any help from Epic, they are met with ignorance in support of “equality”, yet they allow bad actors to move the scales as they please, making the good actors not able to compete at all. Engagement payouts need a V4 with a whitelist system, in support of effort, quality and raising the bar. And ditch all FOMO from the engine, you don’t need it.
