Hello,
I am developing a Fortnite island in UEFN and would like to exchange small amounts of data between separate running sessions of the same island.
For example, an action in session A could update a shared event state or global counter, and sessions B and C would receive that update while their games are still running. This question concerns live in-game features, not matchmaking or moving players between sessions.
Could an Epic staff member please clarify:
-
Is there currently a supported way for independent Fortnite Creative / UEFN creators to implement this kind of live communication?
-
The /UnrealEngine.com/WebAPI documentation mentions “Licensed users”. Can independent UEFN creators obtain this access? If so, what are the eligibility requirements and the official application process?
-
If access is available, where are the instructions for registering a backend, sending updates from Verse, retrieving updates, and handling request limits?
-
If this functionality is unavailable to independent creators, is there another supported approach or a public roadmap item we can follow?
For this use case, the update must originate from an action in a running session. Saving individual player progress between visits or scheduling the same event time in every session would not meet that requirement.
Documentation:
Thank you.
