Unable to resolve UEFN IS-0009 (Update failed)

Summary

I can’t resolve IS-0009 (Update failed) for UEFN.
I have already deleted the .item files under Manifests, edited/removed LauncherInstalled.dat, cleared the webcache, reset the local launcher state, and tried a reinstall followed by an uninstall, but the issue persists.
Please reset any account-side installation records for UEFN or advise additional steps to resolve this.
I can attach EpicGamesLauncher.log and other logs if needed.

Steps to Reproduce

1.Manually delete the UEFN installation folder (e.g., …\FortniteEditor / …\UEFN).

2.Launch Epic Games Launcher and go to Library → Unreal Editor for Fortnite.

3.Click Install (or Update) and choose an install location.

4.The process fails almost immediately and the tile shows “Update failed” with Error Code: IS-0009.

Expected Result

UEFN is recognized as not installed and performs a clean install without errors (no “Update failed” banner).

Observed Result

The install fails almost immediately with “Install failed. Could not read installation information. Error Code: IS-0009.” The Update failed badge remains on the tile, preventing a clean reinstall.

[Resolved / Sharing]
Symptom: UEFN showed IS-0009 (Update failed). After manually deleting the local folder, reinstall attempts failed and the tile kept showing “Update failed.”

What I tried:

  • Deleted the .item files under Manifests
  • Removed the relevant entry from LauncherInstalled.dat
  • Cleared webcache / reset the local launcher state
  • Reinstall → Uninstall
    → None of these worked.

What ultimately worked:

  1. Sign in to the Epic Games Launcher with a different Epic account
  2. Install UEFN and Fortnite on that account
  3. Sign out and switch back to my main account
    → The launcher regenerated the local install records and IS-0009 disappeared. I can launch/update normally now.
