UEFN
Tell us your feedback. What is working, what is not, and what would you change?
I’d like to suggest expanding UEFN’s built-in 3D modeling capabilities so creators can build professional-quality custom assets without relying heavily on external applications such as Blender.
UEFN already provides powerful tools for game development, but creating and refining detailed custom 3D models remains a major challenge. Creators often need to switch between multiple applications to build, modify, and import assets.
1. Advanced 3D Modeling Tools
I would love to see a more complete modeling system directly inside UEFN, including:
- Advanced mesh editing and geometry creation.
- Sculpting, beveling, smoothing, and subdivision tools.
- Better control over vertices, edges, faces, and curves.
- Tools for creating detailed objects, equipment, buildings, and environments.
- The ability to refine and repair imported 3D models.
2. MCP Integration for AI-Assisted Modeling
Another major improvement would be making these modeling capabilities accessible through UEFN’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration.
This could allow AI agents to:
- Create custom 3D models directly inside UEFN.
- Modify existing geometry and individual mesh components.
- Inspect models from multiple angles.
- Detect and correct geometry problems.
- Apply materials and textures.
- Optimize models for Fortnite performance.
- Iteratively improve assets based on creator feedback.
For example, a creator could ask an AI agent to build a realistic hammer, inspect its geometry, identify problems with the claw or handle, and refine the model without needing to export everything to another application.
3. Automated Mesh Validation and Repair
It would also be useful to have built-in tools that automatically identify:
- Incorrect surface normals.
- Disconnected geometry.
- Overlapping mesh components.
- Poor topology.
- Unnecessary polygons.
- Geometry that may cause rendering or collision problems.
These tools could be used manually by creators or automatically through MCP.
4. Why This Would Help UEFN Creators
These improvements would make UEFN a more complete game development environment.
Creators could spend less time switching between applications and more time building their games.
It would also make advanced asset creation more accessible to beginners while giving experienced developers greater control over their projects.
MCP integration would be especially valuable because AI agents could help automate repetitive modeling tasks and assist with creating, testing, and refining custom assets.
Final Suggestion
I’d love to see Epic expand UEFN’s modeling capabilities and expose those tools through MCP so creators and AI agents can work together to build professional-quality assets directly inside the editor.
Are there any plans to expand UEFN’s built-in modeling tools or provide more advanced mesh-editing capabilities through MCP?
