UE5 Watch Tower

Render + Project Timelapse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le-W-KInxac

This latest personal project is fan art inspired by the amazing ‘Firewatch’ poster. It took me about 5 hours to finish, from modelling to set to the render. Don’t forget to also check the time-lapse video showing the whole process of the project. smiley

I used Maya to model custom assets like the Watch Tower and the Wind Vane and also to simulate the flag and the cables. I used Substance Painter to texture the custom assets. I used Gaia to create the background mountains and Unreal 5.3 for the rest.

Besides the assets and materials from the Megascan Library, I also used a few from the Epic Marketplace like ‘AdvancedGlassPack’ (tower windows glasses), ‘MWRedwoodForest’ (hero foreground trees), ‘SpruceForest’ (pine trees), ‘Easy Fog’ (hero midground fog), ‘UltraDynamicSky,’ and a few others."

Hi there @MarcosSilva.

Hope you’re well and having a great week so far

After Google-ing the Firewatch poster I can say you’ve done a brilliant job at creating that same powerful feeling. The burgundy sunset, the untethered flock of birds, and the imposing watch tower all create that grand feeling from the poster art.

Beautifully done  I hope to see more of your art around the forums!

Thanks a lot for the kind word @PresumptivePanda!!

And yes, I will definably be back once I have more personal work!

Cheers!

Hey @MarcosSilva ! Welcome back to posting with us here on the forums!

Firewatch was one of my favorite games for a good few years on top of having a pre-existing fondness for fire lookout towers. I think you’ve managed to capture the beauty similar to Firewatch in your own style which is fantastic. I also appreciate the project time lapse as well as I enjoy seeing how scenes like this come to life!

I’ve not heard of Gaia yet as a program. Is it something you find easy to use?

Thanks a lot for your comments!!

Yes, they have a free version that allows us to export 1k height maps very easily. It is super easy to use! I really recommend
