UE5 Preview 2 : Landscape Layer Material " Import from File " ::: NOT WORKING:::

Hi,

In UE 5 Preview 2 - when I create a new landscape with landscape materials (layers) and wanna import my own alpha mask (Generated from WORLD CREATOR) I simply cant use the feature (Right Click) Import from File… it throws me away from PAINT TAB and pushes me to the MANAGE tab where it offers me to import again HEIGHT map only… In previous versions it worked fine, is there a new workaround I am not aware of ? Or simply put… How would you use World Creator content with Unreal Engine 5 ? It seems like its not compatible now.

For specifics I am talking about this : AT 50:36 min <------------------------------------

I notice when you import the heightmap you can add target paint layers at that point and bind them to weightmap masks. It doesnt seem particularly flexable as my experience is that I might want to add additional layers as requirements become apparent.

Hiya. Did you find the answer to this… I am also noticing the UE4 iport a mask to drive a layer is not available (or I cant find where it is imported). It jsut takes you to the import dialogue, which appears to be for a new landscape not adjusting the current one

This is the exact information I was looking for. You need to have the Landscape Material created before importing the height and weight maps.

I agree that it’s inflexible, but I’m happy to have it working now.
