UE5 on a laptop

I want to make my next game in unreal 5 I’m just wondering if my ryzen 5 5650U with 32 gigs of ram would be enough to run it. I’m not looking to create complex lighting or physics i just want to create a simple boomer shooter, is creating such a thing on a mid spec laptop like mine possible or should i turn to a different engine

a mid spec laptop

It is not, though.

  • 32GB RAM is great :+1: :+1:
  • it’s a six core chip :+1:
  • it’s a 15W U (ultra-low power) chip :-1:
  • no discrete GPU? :-1::-1:

If you:

  • disable Virtual Shadow Maps
  • disable Nanite,
  • lower Scalability

Enough to learn the engine, but developing an actual game, maaaaybe? I say install the engine, populate the 1st person template with a bunch of random marketplace assets and fx, run around & assess - can you stomach it for the next couple of years? Also, get a cooling pad.

Possible? Probably. Feasible? Probably not.

oh i meant mid spec in terms of the raw componentsi know that new this was a business laptop, im also planning on using very simple models
but thank you
also this would be only for actually doing developing without any rendering or any models at all, i have an actually beefy desktop that i can use for that
