When I first encountered Unreal Engine, I wanted to quickly experience the unique visuals of Unreal, so I used a lot of high-quality characters and background sources. However, as I studied Blueprint, I felt a great burden on the storage space because I needed 1TB of storage space just to back up these high-capacity resources.
So I created and used low-polygon characters that were easy to back up for learning, and they had great advantages in terms of efficiency and practicality. I released them on the market, and many people responded well, and I also received many personal requests for production. However, due to a lack of personal time, I had to politely decline all requests.
I tried to release 100 free characters on the FAB platform, but my characters were designed to be modularized with various parts connected to a single skeleton, so that you can create your own character by combining each part. However, FAB’s evaluation criteria tend to require one character per skeleton, so some of them were rejected during the evaluation because the structure did not fit.
When I submitted 10 to the review, half were approved and the rest were rejected repeatedly.
Since the FAB review criteria are conducted by humans, the interpretation of the guidelines seems to be somewhat fluid.
Considering the time and effort required for the re-review process, I decided to give up on releasing the FAB,
and only upload the character to the Buy Me a Coffee platform, where I can personally edit and update it.
However, I plan to reorganize the character structure and folder guidelines so that I can challenge the FAB again later,
and challenge the final review. If approval is still difficult, I plan to withdraw from the FAB.
FREE Characters can be used freely for commercial purposes only for implementing Blueprint functions or creating content and games made with Unreal Engine. (They can also be used for free in academies for Unreal education purposes.)
