for a research at our university we are developing a driving simulator. All the Interiors of the vehicles are Siemens NX models. The plan is to import the models directly via Datasmith.
The problem is, that the import works fine with models, which were desingned with an older NX version (1969). But at our institute we´re currently using NX version 2007 and when i try to import a model from the current NX version the import works, but there is nothing imported.
I tried it with a simple cube. One designed in NX 1969 and one designed with NX 2007 and just the first one gets imported fine. After the import of the second one, the target folder has a Datasmit Scene in it, but no geometry.
Okay it´s nice to hear, that it should support up to 2206.
We are using 5.0.3.
I tried it again with a simple cube model. I created a blank project and enabled the Datasmith CAD Importer and Datasmith Importer Plugins.
Then i created a simple cube in NX 1969 and saved it. Then opened the cube model in NX 2007 and saved it with a new name. After that it´s not possible to open this model again with the old NX Version.
Now i used the Datasmith Import in the Engine via Add > Datasmith > File Import… with the default settings for both files. But it works just with the NX 1969 cube, this is the result in the content folder:
