UE5 Constant problem over 2 years still not fixed "SAVING UMAPS TAKES FOREVER"

Hey! So I’ve searched high and wide and it always leads to a dead end problem solved posting. So I’ve used UE5 for 2 years now, some with extreme load levels some just a plain landscape. BUT everytime I make the landscape or do anything in that “glitched project” the saving UMAP takes FOREVERRR I’m talking 20mins minimum. What is causing this issue, all posts indicate “its your pc” or “hardware” “Update windows”

no no no & no This has nothing to do with any of that, the problem persists within UE5 having trouble within the project saving umap , it always gets stuck on this factor and only happens to random projects, I honestly thought it was Landscape as this is usually when my project starts doing this but even on some projects I have no landscape, then other projects I have millions of objects and it saves like butter.

As other posts have been made and epic devs have commented on them with still no solution I’m asking for a uproar or something because its a huge issue for me @ work and @ home but no one has found a solution still.

HELPPP It wastes so much time!!

Did you ever consider that it really is your hardware is at fault?

What hard drive are you saving on? Whats its write speed?
List that and make sure of it - heck unplug anything that isn’t an m.2 and try again.

Also, disable your repo stuff/git what not. And make sure you arent saving to a network

It can’t be because I import the save file to a work computer which is super fast, yet it takes forever to save still so, if it was the harddrive it would save the other projects slowly, its something about the UMAP that it freezes on.

I could literally do 2 seconds of work after a save then press save again and it always gets stuck on the umap, plus if I start a UE5 project with nothing added, it saves immediately and I COULD work on it for months and it wouldn’t have the issue, but some projects this issue just randomly appears one day (I found especially Landscape creation days) and even if I delete the landscape that project will now forever take forever to save no matter if i delete EVERYTHING. This has even happend on projects I’ve just started, its like a gamble on if it turns into one.

what are you on about, I state its not these problems because everyone else talks about it and I’ve tried it 200 times, and yet you still talk about it on my post. Stop wasting people’s time with the same “turn it on and off” attitude man. This is why Help posts are so useless on the internet now because of people like you.

The problem was world partitions weren’t on I found it myself no thanks to this bozo if anyone else has this problem fyi stay away from forum people like this huge waste of time.

I have the same problem. It’s a Windows with a 4090 NVIDIA graphics card, 9-core processor and a 4TB Samsung SSD. Saving the umap takes 20-30 min every time. I don’t get it. It’s so frustrating.

The gfx really has no bearing on save times.
Write/read speeds are the only issue or are of concern there.

Your avarage level .usasset is around 1GB, maybe 2.
What’s the write time on that?
You cannot expect the system to go any faster then your write times.

Once you determine that “well, 2GB writes in 10 seconds” then you can start to look into what the issue with the engine could be.

World partition surely doesn’t have anything to do with your run of the mill level…

Look into your timings. Then maybe try a copy of the same uasset in a prior engine version (or a furure one, if one came out its easier to update a copy of the project upawards).
