I’m making a character for a game and the time to rig it for unreal has come.
Are there any instructions on how I should rig for UE5 somewhere? Maybe a tutorial, documentation, or even a ready rig that I can import into max and just adjust it for my character?
TBH You can use any custom rig as long as it has a single root. It’s just a matter of if you have the TD skills to rig the the character yourself or you can fall back to CAT or Biped.
If you want to use the unreal animations with your character then the bone chain should follow the same naming convention to keep the transfer similar.
You can export out character via the asset => export option from withing the content browser to get an FBX file version that can be imported to max.
Also take into account the local axis of the bones of the exported character. Keep them similar if you want things like IK to be transferable.
