So recently, all the new files that I have are having issues with character/camera movement working correctly. I have always gotten it to work in older files and even tried to copy those over to the newer ones but nothing is working. All files are created in UE 5.6. Is anyone else having this issue and have you figured out a solution?
Hey @TheQuotosopher! Welcome to the forums!
Would you mind showing us what your character blueprint inputs look like? Where is your movement being controlled?
Because the thing is, I just made a new project and it doesn’t behave this way, this could be a LOT of things that could be fixed very quickly. For instance, maybe your camera is parented directly to your character instead of through a boom? Is the camera boom also set up correctly?
All that being said, none of this is wrong or broken, there are tons of games that play like this, World of Warcraft is immensely popular and this is how it controls. Don’t worry, nothing here is “broken” just set up in a different way, totally shiftable to how you would like it… but you also haven’t really explained what it is you are wanting.
Get back to us with some more info! Pics of your blueprints are going to be really important here!
Thank you for responding. I’m not able to upload screenshots due to my account being marked as new, so I recorded a video of my current node set up. The second video is another file where the character and camera are moving correctly. The nodes are copied from the third person template to my BP_Saira.
In the first video, the inputting mapping and aim mapping nodes do not come on the third person bp like they did in the second video’s file. I tried to manual replicate those nodes in hopes of a fix. https://youtu.be/-beskCuLXnw
I’m a new dev and a lot of my journey is trial and error.
(I will have to post the second video in a new comment as it is blocking me from including it here).
