UE4Editor-Cmd.exe has crashed

I see there are many questions about this and fixes, but none of them worked for me.

  1. I start the Unreal Engine launcher.
  2. I press Launch.
  3. Wait a couple of seconds and this is the screen I get:

And this was in my clipboard after I got that screen

My specs:
Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU (Yes with Optimus)
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GT555M
Windows 7 64-bit

I normally force all my applications to use my NVIDIA card. In addition to that I also tried setting the application specific settings in my NVIDIA control panel to use my High-performance NVIDIA processor as this answer suggests UE4Editor-Cmd.exe crashed after launch - Programming & Scripting - Unreal Engine Forums

It still crashes on launch.

Here’s my dxdiag:

I used the dll file found in this question and the editor launched fine: https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/14856/ue4editor-cmdexe-crashed-after-launch-1.html

Even though using the aforementioned DLL file lets me launch the editor, it does not use my NVIDIA card and runs horribly slow.

Hi! Where is you project files located? When I made a project i choose to put it somewhere else than default. I later began to have the same problem you are having. So I made a new project in the default location (C:\Users\Andre\Documents\Unreal Projects). Right now I’ve been working for ~3 hours with no crash. So this may be a fix for the problem.

The projects are all in the default location.
Problem is, I cannot even start the editor to open (or create) a project.

Hey FakeTruth,

Are you still having issues opening the editor, or is it just running slowly now? Did you follow the instructions found here: (UE4Editor-Cmd.exe crashed after launch - Programming & Scripting - Unreal Engine Forums) to manually switch to your NVIDIA card?

Hi Ben,

Yes I am still having the issues and I followed these instructions as stated in my question. The reason the editor crashes is most likely because it is not using my NVIDIA GPU and the other Intel GPU is incompatible.

Do note I am using the editor version of last Thursday and I cannot update until next Thursday due to… reasons…

Using the DLL found in this question allows me to start the editor as it seemingly fixes an issue when using a GPU that does not support a certain feature, but it is still impossible for me to force UE4 to use my NVIDIA GT555M card: Crash after launch with below min spec GPU - Programming & Scripting - Unreal Engine Forums

Hello,

Did this issue get resolved in the 4.0.2 update? The patches included may have fixed this issue. Please let us know.

Cheers!

Hi Alexander,

Currently I cannot check, but I will definitely get back to you once I get the opportunity again.

This is a different issue. Could you please make a new post for this?

Thank you!
