But we are not talking about something new when we speak of DGI in UE4. It’s something that was already done before. They already had SVOGI and was showcasing it’s goodness. The only reason we ever heard on it getting removed was that it was performance heavy, and those hardware are 4 years old now so technically if they do the same thing as they did 4 years ago, we’d be having a much nicer performance… And I’m pretty sure they never spent enough man hours to optimize it at all since the engine was new and DGI was 1 out of so many features they had to take care of. So if they add it back, and do the optimization, performance is basically going to be very good, if not as good as in cryengine.
The issue here is getting the word out. If they just hear us and decide to do it it’s totally doable in a short time.
Perhaps, but there’s also the numerous other rendering enhancements that have been introduced into the engine since then, each taking their own toll. But perhaps you’re right, or maybe there’s a bit more to it. In all honesty, it could go either way.
