UE4 Editor Preferences not being applied on other projects

Hello.

I am trying to figure out why UE4’s preferences are not being saved properly and applied across other projects. For instance, I’ve explicitly enabled “Show Frame Rate and Memory” from General->Miscellaneous tab and then proceeded to make a new project only to find out that it wasn’t present anymore in my new project.

Also, is there a way to save my configuration of Content Browser. I’ve hidden the Source Panel of the Content Browser, and also set my own zoom level, but that preference does not get applied to other projects. This is what i mean:

Engine version: 4.6.1

Hi xmirko,

The Editor Preferences are saved per project. If you would like the same settings in another project you will need to either set them again manually or Export the settings from the old project and Import them into any new projects you create.

Cheers,

TJ

But, is there a way to globally apply settings without having to export/import them manually every time you make a new project - because I really like to prototype my ideas and I make a lot of different projects so that kind of messes up my workflow?

Unfortunately the export/import method is currently the only way to do this. I entered a Feature Request to add this functionality. Please keep in mind this doesn’t mean it is guaranteed to be implemented, but our developers will be investigating it further.

Thanks,

TJ

why its marked as solved? this is very lame that there is a import button at editor preferences but it’s always grayed out. but we can export settings… but cant import them lol… why you put the button than?

Hi alperenozgur,

This was marked as resolved because a feature request was entered for the OP’s requested functionality.

The Import/Export buttons aren’t grayed out on my end. This is what I see in 4.12.3:

If you aren’t seeing this, I’ll need some additional info. What version of the editor are you using? Are they grayed out for you in a new blank project as well?

Go to your Engine directory > engine version > Engine > Config.
Inside you’ll find BaseEditorPerProjectUserSettings.ini. Open it and find bShowFrameRateAndMemory and set to True.
Save the .ini file and you’re good to go.
I recommend you close all the projects before doing this. I’m using 4.13.2
