I’m running engine 4.26 from the epic store launcher. I’ve also attempted to compile from source, but had…issues of varying kinds on this particular laptop.
I’m getting an error on startup of the editor that my computer requires a video card capable of DX11, shader model 5. My GPU is a DX12 GPU and fully capable of said version. I can’t execute the Editor from the epic store, not can I execute it directly. However, when I run as admin, it begins to load before giving me that error.
Here’s the difficult part. I’m using a Microsoft Surface Pro X ARM64 computer with the Adreno 690 GPU. It’s a highly capable computer capable of running native ARM64, x86-32, and as of last night, x86-64/x64. I’m 100% sure this bizarre computer is the source of the issues, but the error I’m getting is false, so I wanted to ask here anyway. I am indeed emulating the x64 version of the editor.
Ideally I’d want to run a native ARM64 editor. Some people had claimed to have successfully compiled it for Windows on ARM64, but I was unsuccessful when trying to do so myself, but I was successful in compiling for both Linux and Windows x64.
If I can’t use my laptop for UE4, then I’ll survive, but it’s frustrating and even more frustrating since the error is not true.
Any advice is appreciated, but please do my a favour of not ■■■■■■■■ on the laptop. Enough apple fanatics and stuck up, self-proclaimed “critics” already harass us enough. I know it’s an oddball. I know it’ll have issues. I love it regardless, and always try to make things work on it, fully understanding that some things just won’t work. Not yet, at least.
Thanks!
