UE4 crashes when I try to open my project

Hi at all,

I worked til 20 o’clock on my project.
at 20 o’clock I played Rocket League for 1 hour.
After starting Epic Games Launcher and open my Project, it crashed.
It doesn’t even show my Project, only a crash report window.
It is a UE4 Bug.
I can’t open my Project, the Crash Report Window appears after I try to open it.

Have you tried dropping a breakpoint on line 610 of Array.h and tracing through the call stack to isolate the crash culprit?

Right Click on “MyProject” → “Open” → Error.
Conclusion: It didn’t open the Project == it is a UE4 Bug (A Program, where I can make 0 adjustments)… Please just read my Problem…

Hello Halki,

This is most likely not a bug and is an error with your project, due to the “array out of bounds” message. The callstack that you are receiving is incomplete and does not have the proper information for anyone to assist you. Please use the Epic Games Launcher, click the Library tab, click the arrow beside “Launch” under your current engine version, Select the Options button and check the box for “Editor symbols for debugging”. This will allow for the callstack to be displayed properly instead of just listing “UnknownFunction”.

Also, in general, to receive assistance with issues like this, it would be best to provide that callstack alongside the logs from the project. You can find these logs in the project’s folder under Saved/Logs.

Edit: There is also no reason to hide your LoginID/EpicAccountID. It is not useful for anyone but our staff members.

I added my latest Log-Files (. File).

From the error message, it seems to be related to an Array or possibly just a reference to the ProgressBarWidget or within the ProgressBarWidget itself. You could try adding your broken blueprint to a fresh project to see if it will open and try to debug what was wrong.

After I removed the ProgressBarWidget, the Project opens.
Now I’m a bit confused, why it crashed…
My Whole Project don’t work now… my references are all “destroyed”…

I can’t see any errors while playing it.

The issue was related to loading/serialization so it’s not something you would see until you attempted to load the asset, such as when you reopen the project. Unfortunately there is no way to see this ahead of time without attempting to reload the assets.

Looks like it could be an issue with one of your Widgets. I would suggest making backups of your Widget blueprints, removing them from the project temporarily, and attempting to open the project. It also seems that these logs are from before downloading the Editor Symbols for Debugging, as it still lists the functions in the callstack as “UnknownFunction”. Please provide the log from attempting to open the project after having the symbols installed.
