UE4 crashes on project startup

Hi,

Every time I try to run a unreal project on my PC it crashes.
My PC has a GTX 1060 and 16GB RAM with an i7 7th gen.

This is the error I get on startup ->

I have already tried clean installation of the graphics driver and also tried deleting registry and data files for the drivers before installing. Still the same issue continues.

Please HELP!

Could be related to many things, look at your log folder, browse to the bottom part and check (post here) the last lines, which usually hint at affected files.

This is the error I get when screen freezes on Startup (inside of VS) –>

Disable RayTracing in project.

How do disable Ray Tracing in the project when I can’t open the project? Every time I try to open it it crashes due to D3D12RHI error… thanks!

If there is an error in any element within the map the editor is opening during the editor loading, you can skip the map loading if you edit your DefaultEngine.ini file inside your project’s Config folder and editing the parameter as follows:

Example:
EditorStartupMap=/Game/ThirdPersonBP/Maps/ThirdPersonExampleMap

to:
EditorStartupMap=

With that you will be able to at least open the project without a map loaded at editor. Once there you can change any project settings and restore EditorStartupMap to its previous value. Make sure to have a backup done for the DefaultEngine.ini before changing it!
