I wish to start a simple 2D game for Android and was going through the wiki on how to get it up and running, but I didn’t see an option for Linux and would like to know if it is possible and supported, before I install anything.

No, it’s not supported.
I’d like to know if it will ever be supported. The Unreal Editor works great on Ubuntu, and the latest version of NVIDIA CodeWorks for Android is also available for Ubuntu. It would be great if some future version of UE4 supported Android development on Linux, even if setting it up wasn’t as simple as on Windows and OS X.
