UE4 and Houdini

I’ve been playing around with UE4 and Houdini a lot recently and I’m really enjoying the workflow pipeline it opens up. I’m considering doing a series of tutorial posts on the subject, because I haven’t found many that are really good. Would there be interest from the community for something like that?

I’ve written part 1 if your interested in seeing what I’m talking about. http://www.undeaddev.com/oh-oh-oh-its-magic-part1/

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Do ittttt. I’m actually looking into putting together a bunch of FX tutorials using Houdini and UE4. Depending on my new contract, I’m hoping to get started on those again.

So I think I’ll try this out for a little while at least. Here’s this week’s tutorial - sweeping a curve.

Simple 3D text in Unreal using Houdini

I’ve been really excited about this and finally gave it a go last week. My intention was to make a 3D text object actually and made a really nice one which suited my purposes beautifully - gutted to find out it only works in editor and not at runtime. I’ve heard they’ve been thinking about a runtime version but licensing’s an issue - my purposes which are realtime gfx for TV would mean I’d happily pay a license on a per-renderer basis. I’ll be keeping an eye on progress here.
