(UE4.27) AI gets stuck on navlink only when chasing the player

I have an AI that roams the level and can open doors and enter through them via navlinks. It works perfectly when in the patrol state but when the AI sees the player and is chasing the player he is unable to use the navlinks to enter rooms, he gets stuck and twitches left and right like crazy. Please help!!! this problem has been bothering me for weeks I can’t figure out why it only happens during the chase state. I checked the visual logger but I can’t see anything pointing towards why this happens.
