I’ve been developing a ue4.26 project for two years and since yesterday I’ve faced the following problem:
Looking at UE5.1 ads I decided to migrate a copy of my project to this engine, I was just fooled by the shiny functionality ads and regretted it after 10 min.
I went back to the usual UE4.26(.2) project and was horrified to find that the engine did not behave as it had for two whole years…
Importing and re-importing files, loading levels, and a number of other processes such as saving, compiling, and deleting had started to run impossibly slow…
Can anyone advise how to restore the functionality to its original state (import, reimport, save for normal time, etc.)
I tried verifying the engine from the Epic launcher, it didn’t help!
My Spec:
AMD Ryzen 9 5950x
32Gb RAM DDR 4 x 3000Mhz
RTX 2070
P.S. >> If this is some marketing ploy to upgrade to the “new” UE5/5.1 by Epic, then this is very wrong! Personally, I think that the new UE5, UE5.1 engines are still test projects with unproven functionality and the presence of a huge amount of bugs, kernel crashes, using extreme ram sizes, clumsy process handling, and for these reasons I will refrain from the two “new” engines for a while (this is my personal opinion and does not commit anyone to it, I’m just looking for a solution to the stated problem).
If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful!

Why did you move my theme? So i cannot get an answer to my question?
I’ll ask you to move the thread back to international so more people can see it and maybe someone can reply…
(Because the UE4 support does not give answers to our questions or at least not comprehensive enough, they are usually in the form of a “read here” link where there is not enough information and it is the first place where we look for a solution to our problems and if we do not find it, we write in the forum !)
Thanks in advance for your attention.
Hey @Abcansis,
Just so I’m understanding this correctly, your original game, not the copy, and had to re-import files after just loading up 5.1 on your machine?
Did you un-install the 5.1 version that you installed? It sounds like with your specs it shouldn’t be a hardware issue. Maybe try the profiler / gameplay debugger to see where the issues are coming from?
My only other advice is to build the engine from source, not using the launcher at all.
