UE Editor freezes when trying to build lighting

Hmm. UE4 being in the program files path might be causing it. Try changing the Swarm cache folder to a directory that you know it can write to.

Few other suggestions: Check and make sure that you have .Net Framework 4.5 installed. In Unreal Launcher, run the “Verify” feature and make sure the install is good (I assume you installed UE4 from the launcher). In Swarm Agent Settings, make sure “EnableStandaloneMode” is set.

Hey there Razrfeng, I am experiencing the same kind of issues lately (since 4.15) and even more often since we upgraded our project to 4.16.2. For me, the engine freezes (or “stops responding”) as soon as it performs the “Map Check” when I build my geometry made of BSP Brushes and StaticMeshActors.

Have you found any solutions or work-arounds for this issue?

EnableStandaloneMode = true, worked for me

Just uninstall Incredibuild. Go to Control Panel → Programs and Features-> select Incredibuild → Uninstall. It solved my problem.
