Hello, I am trying to vertex paint two materials (rock and moss) but when I download the materials from quixel bridge I dont get the height maps. Does anyone know why this is and how to get them in the file?
It’s the red channel of this
I thought red was used for ambient occlusion? Or can is it used for both?
Well, take a look at the channels. I’d guess because it’s called …ORDp, that it’s the blue, but just use the one with the best contrast
those channels didnt work, I need an actual height map
Those channels arent seeming to help when using the height map for vertex painting. It should paint in the crevices first and then to the higher portions. Instead its just placing a general coat.

For vertex painting, I would use the red one. Better contrast.
Do you have the material setup right?
I watched the tutorial and set my material up like yours, i set the transition to .5 like yours and the mesh is have green and half brick. Also, i cant paint. Heres what my set up and mesh looks like,
if i plug the vertex into the transition i can paint, however i am not getting paint in the crevices (my brush strenght is .16)
Also, i had to switch the a and b channel for the base color for the brick to show up first
if youd like i could send you my file to look at or vice versa
Notice how there’s no dots on the brush?
That means you don’t have enough polys in the mesh.
You can paint an editor cube, you need a high poly mesh
The brush should look like this
More dots the better.
Yes, i noticed that after making that message. in the image after that you can see that i was able to paint the mesh, this is because I added for vertices. It must be an issue with how it is set up.
