UE 5.5 Megascans Bridge plugin not loading correctly due to 0 byte files.

Hi all, I’m trying to import some of my assets from Bridge, but when I install the UE 5.5 plugin, a lot of the files that it installs are 0 byte files and the plugin fails to load. I tried installing it to several places as a test, and the installer always writes about 50% of the plugin files as 0 bytes.

Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround for this?

I think I have the same issue. Installed Bridge (app and plugin) for the first time yesterday and the engine immediately stopped booting with error like “Bridge plugin can’t access Megascans plugin”. I checked it, and Megascans plugin is installed and enabled in engine. Tried reinstalling both plugins but it didn’t help.

Hello,

@smbell can you please let us know if you are working on a restricted network or on a company provided computer?

@KorinOo Can you please try the following:

  • Uninstall Bridge via the Epic Games Launcher.
  • Navigate to [Path to UE]/Engine/Plugins and remove the “Bridge” and “Megascans Plugin” folders present here.
  • Once removed, re-install Bridge via the Launcher.
Please ensure that UE is not running during these steps.

No, I’m working on my own home machine here. There should be no permissions issues etc. I tried to install the plugin to three different local drives on my machine, same exact thing with each of them, even down to the same 0 byte files.

Thank you! Not sure how is this different from what I was doing, but it did work

Worked for me! Thanks
