I’ve been using the precompiled Unreal Engine 5.5 for Linux, and I’ve noticed that the Bridge plugin—which is critical for importing/managing MetaHumans—is completely missing from the editor.
This breaks the workflow for accessing MetaHumans through Quixel Bridge on Linux.
Some background:
- Before UE 5.5, the Bridge plugin was distributed separately and worked fine on Linux.
- After Epic integrated Bridge directly into the engine (instead of a standalone plugin), it seems to have disappeared from the Linux build. The Linux page now only includes the “FAB” plugin, but there’s no sign of Bridge. (check here https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/linux
Has anyone else encountered this?
- Is there any official word on whether Bridge will be supported on Linux in future updates?
- Are there workarounds to get MetaHumans working in UE 5.5 for Linux right now?
I’d really appreciate any insights from the community or updates from Epic!
