if you don’t know, the latest update (5.4) allows Android users to download the Unreal Vcam app. I set up my project as I see in many videos and Unreal documentation. I activated all the plugins, I chose the right IP address of my pc, I carefully connected my pc and my laptop to the same wi-fi (no ethernet, I thought that was the problem ) but I can’t connect the application to my project. I even create a new blank one, but it’s the same effect. When I try to connect to my project with my laptop, I don’t see my project on the app and when I tried to manually enter my IP address on the app, it gives me an error message. ‘’ Unable to connect to xxx.xxx.x.xxx:xx, please check the IP adress and the network status of the Unreal Engine instance and try again.
Make sure that they vcam actor is enabled and you have an output provider. If you see the vcam HUD in the editor you should be fine. If that does not work try to temporarily disable any firewalls or defender to see if its possibly getting blocked.
Can you try manually setting the pixel streaming port to something else? If that does not work try the viewer port and make sure to match it on the vcam app.
Coming back to this post to update that I still can’t make a connection. I found this link which i followed religiously but my phone just won’t connect
I tried pinging from my phone to my system using a secondary app, it works. I can even ping my phone from my system, so packets are being transfered but for some reason i can’t connect the app to UE, Pixel Streaming under Live Link window continue to be yellow instead of green
i’m somehow able to work it out. I had to mention viewer port as 11111. I feel I had this much trouble bec I’m using android and they shipped this feature for android recently. I still experience a lot of bugs like camera jumping to random positions, touch UI not working properly, having being disconnected randomly and not connecting again until I restart my UE etc.
I noticed that once i’m connected and the app has my connection under quick connect menu in the app, I don’t need to select “unicast endpoint” again. I didn’t want to jinx it so I didn’t tweak anything anymore lol. Hoping they make this android version as seamless as the IOS one bec what it is right now is quick buggy and confusing.
Interesting. Could you tell me what device you are using, brand/model? Android support is difficult because of all the different variations. The issue with Android is often how different things can be from device to device.
I spent a few days messing with the settings thinking the problem was my device. I ended up buying a Galaxy Tab S8 tablet thinking it could solve it and in the end the problem is actually software LOL
I hope this VCAM integration with Android will be optimized soon! Really looking forward to taking advantage of this feature in my projects!
