I am having this retargeter issue in UE 5.4.
It was working fine in UE 5.3, but in 5.4 it’s having issues. I don’t know why I tried manual retargeting as well as auto retargeting, which is the 5.4 new feature. still having issues.
I already see two issues:
- The default poses do not match. They absolutely must, or you’re going to have accuracy issues.
- There are different spine bone counts in the two skeletons. (Which you try to address manually).
For “2”, I would use Unreal’s default retargeter:
Copy and retarget all animations for the UE4 skeleton. Then I would set the UE4 skeleton as compatible to your “Pink Guy’s” skeleton (found under Retarget Manager) :
Now your Pink guy can use the retargeted animations of the UE4 skeleton (and vice-versa, if you set it up that way).
It didnt worked.
I know this might be a simplistic question, but did you try using the new 5.4 retargetting method, which is 100 times easier then the 5.3 method ? If yes, what were the results ?
The 5.3 method requires so many steps in which if you don’t follow them properly, can cause this deformity that is displayed in your video example.
I tried it but it also didnt worked.
For me worked to switch from movable to static and than suddenly the actor was on right place…
