My UE 5.3 and UE 5.2 are no longer starting from Launcher, or by double clicking the project since I installed UE5.4. I can only get it to run by navigating to the executable and choosing “Run as Administrator”. I verified installation and it redownloaded the files, but still is not working. Any ideas to fix this? Much thanks, Anthony
Check Shortcut Properties:
- If you’re launching UE5 from a shortcut, ensure that the shortcut properties do not force it to run as an administrator. Right-click on the shortcut, go to “Properties,” and check the “Compatibility” tab.
it worked for me
Chiming in to say I’m experiencing the same issue. I’ve gotten used to just running the Epic Games Launcher w/ Admin privileges cuz I haven’t been able to fix this issue myself.
Adding to the conversation, I’m encountering the same problem. I’ve resorted to running the Epic Games Launcher with Admin privileges since I haven’t found a solution on my own.
I also am having this issue. I’ve tested multiple times on different machines with different user accounts by installing through the Epic Game Launcher on Windows 10, but 3/4 installs require elevation to run. It was only on the first installation that I did not need elevated privileges, but I may have elevated that account on that machine in the past and forgotten. The shortcut does not have the run as administrator checkbox selected in any of the situations I’ve installed.
