Title says it all. I feel like sometimes the slow responses of UE 5.1 are not even loading times, right clicking inside a blueprint graph takes 5 seconds to open the context menu, every single time. Is it trying to waste my time?
I agree with this wholeheartedly; Unreal Engine 4 was actually faster in many cases. Nevertheless, there are a few things you could try to improve response times.
- Disable realtime mode.
- Change the total number of viewports to one (default is 4).
- Open Task Manager and set Unreal Engine’s task priority to high.
However, these are unlikely to significantly impact the editor on a high-end PC.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’m currently only loading a few files on the first person template and an empty level to test the performance. It feels slow as if the entire thing is built in Javascript lol. Attempting to keep all the code up to date through this snail of an editor.
if you are still having this issue, completely turn off windows 11 anti virus. Its bogus. My project will get hung at 40% opening for 10 mins, turn it off it opens in seconds.
It’s common behavior for an antivirus to scan when you start an app or use a directory, you can make an exception for both in the av rules instead of completely disabling it.
You could but windows 11 real time protection is insanely resource hungry.
