UE 5.1 in GitHub ue5-main and backwards compatibility with 5.0

Nice! Does this mean a new EA or full release will be out soon too?

Yeah, wondering the same

There are no plans for another EA version on the launcher

Are there any new features that come with this build?

Hard to tell. Nothing major that I’ve noticed but I’m sure there must be some. I can tell that Lumen’s performance and feature support (e.g. translucency) have improved significantly as compared to EA2. There are several UI changes too. Otherwise, there’s no changelog so you would have to check the long list of commits to find out what’s new.

Ok. Thanks.

There is a 5.0 branch on github now. I have been using ue5-main branch on my github build.
Is it safe to assume that 5.0 branch is more stable than ue5-main branch and other ue5* branches ? Some commits are identical ofc (the fixes). I am 90 perc sure that is the case but still confirmation will be appreciated.

5.0 and ue5-main diverted last days significantly and some of functionality still working in a 5.0 now is broken in an ue5-main branch.

Ok thanks for the clarification I just got the 5.0 branch up and running on Arch with some custom patches like using system mono and its working great…

Hi,

5.0 and ue5-main both compile fine, but chaos vehicle are currently broken on both.
Create a project with the advanced template and it is impossible to properly drive the car.
The car look like working but he fall a little low inside the ground and he is constantly and inexorably sliding to the right.

i dont try a lot other part of chaos in this both builds, i am not a heavy skilled user anyway, and my interest is mostly on the vehicles.

I would imagine that the creation of the 5.0 branch is an indicator that this is the branch with which to target for compatibility with the official 5.0 release, and that continuing to work off of ue5-main opens you up to getting ahead of the release schedule and incompatible with the official 5.0 release. Probably is already the case even, since ue5-main is already bumped to 5.1

Is that accurate @VictorLerp ?

Is the release suddenly imminent? The github page seems to be gone?

It’s not gone for me. I can access it and all the branches are there.

Strange. The link, both in this thread and in the launcher, doesn;t work for me

Just in case, have you followed these instructions in order to access it?

It’s not a public repository so if you are getting a 404 message then you might have missed authorizing your Github account.

… Well now it works, boy do I feel silly ha ha. Thank you!

Is it just me or does it seem that the UE5 updates on Github dried up? I normally update each day, nothing since last Friday or so.

Hi @Verkyker, there appear to be updates 4 days ago

5.0 Updated 4 days ago by eldar seydamet

On most working days I’ve seen there be ~100 commits at least though. Might well be nothing, some random time off, a sync/upload delay or whatever, but no commits for two to three working days is certainly not business as usual.

EDIT: Nevermind, none of the other branches have activity on them either. ■■■■ it Epic, I just want EA3 at least :expressionless:
