Have decided to learn UE 5.1 Development and was trying to go through and use the Documentation however it seems that most of the Documentation is for a previous version. Should a new user/developer to UE be using UE 5.1 to learn how to develop! Why has the UE 5.1 Documentation not been updated?
Even though it says it’s for older versions, much of the documentation for older versions is consistent with how UE5 works, especially a lot of the base features that you’ll be encountering as you begin to learn. If there is ever something that doesn’t work just make a question topic here and you can expect to receive some sort of feedback (50/50 on helpful or not) within a few days. Unreal is a tough beast to master, I’m just starting out too, but just hang in there and you’ll figure most problems out. Good luck with your journey!
Unreal Engine 5.1 is a new version of Unreal Engine, and it’s normal that some of the documentation hasn’t been updated yet. It’s still a good choice to learn UE5.1 development as it has new features and improvements. To help you with the development process, you can use the Unreal Engine official forums and community resources, such as tutorials and videos, as a supplement to the official documentation. Additionally, you can also reach out to the Unreal Engine community for help and guidance.
Also, as @Aejjee mentioned, older documentation is often a valid source to understand how various systems and components work within the engine.
I personally still search for UE4 when looking for ways to solve issues in UE5.
Thanks, All, I realize it takes a while for the docs to get updated, but if UE 5.1 is released and not in Beta, it should have more up to date docs.
