Then, when I try to switch to landscape paint tab, editor crashes.
It’s no matter is it fresh project, or not. Even different engines version doesn’t help. I don’t know what’s going on and it’s really bad.
well I can’t add layer info objects because it’s located on paint tab. And editor just crashes when I try to open it. As for the first part, thank you, that helped.
You’re welcome; yes, that’s right, I didn’t think of that. How much ram do you have on your system? Are you using Version: 4.17.1-3586342+++UE4+Release-4.17 (in Help > About Unreal Editor)?
As far as the preview being black, UE4 seems to not have an automated way of immediately displaying your landscape material. You have to click on your layer blend node and change the preview weights for each layer. So if you have 2 layers, you would divide 1 by 2, and each layer would get a preview weight of 0.5. For 3 layers, it would be 1 divided by 3, or 0.333 weight each layer. Even then, though, it would be nice to have a way of actually previewing this on a sample landscape mesh, but as far as I know, there is no way to do this.
As for your crash, I have no idea why that is happening. Do you have landscape layers (layer info objects) added to your landscape? If you have not already done so, watch through these intro videos to get started with landscapes: https://youtu.be/gMKjIZMPJ0Q
