Graphisoft has now released their Apple Silicone M1 version. I've searched your various articles and discussions but do not see any information about Twinmotion compatibility with Apple Silicone M1 more recent than September. Please advise.
Hi ,
At this time, we don't have any new updates on when native support for Apple's M-series silicon will arrive to Twinmotion.
For now, Twinmotion should be able to run on Apple silicon, with the possibility for minor UI issues that can be resolved by deleting the Config files located at HD/Users/username/Documents/Twinmotion202X/Config

Hi Mark,
Thanks for confirming and sharing your feedback.
As some added insight into the current state of the support for Apple silicon, there are currently some legacy technical features that require a complete overhaul in order to take advantage of the hardware. It's a lengthy process, which is why we don't have a proper expectation of when this support can be released. We do agree, though, that getting this support out will be necessary, and we're hoping that we can get it done as soon as possible.
Thanks again. If you have any future feedback, feel free to reach out.
Best,
Raghib
Hello everybody,
3 months after the last message, do you have a new (and good) information about this ? I have a new Mac Studio with Apple Silicon M1 - Max and I would like to work my projects on Twinmotion...
Thank you at all !
Thanks for checking with me. Yes, I did see your response fro Raghib that there are no updates about support for M-series Macs.
Thankfully, Twinmotion is already quite fast on any Mac, but the added speed of the M1 processor will become increasingly attractive as other apps move more quickly. As Apple will, no doubt, continue on their path to provide machines with their own chips, at some point you must offer support or loose your Mac audience.
Best Regards,
Mark
Raghib:
Thank you for your explanation of the challenges you are having catching up with Apple Silicon.

Hi Raghib:
Its been two months since the last update about Twinmotion on Apple Silicon M1 machines. It is true that Twinmotion runs like crazy on my new M1. However, Archicad does not recognize Datasmith. That means I have to do this tedious workaround of taking my AC project back to an older computer, syncing with Datasmith, move those two files (the project file and the texture folder) to Dropbox, then to my M1, then open it in Twinmotion. So, who has the ball in their court to make sure Datasmith and Archicad 26 Silicon version are compatible? Is it simply because AC has not been told to accept your current version of Datasmith, or is it correct to deny use of it? It is odd that AC Addon Manager thinks it is "outdated", as if it is for an older version.
Please advise.
Best Regards,
Mark
Hi Mark,
The Datasmith team is working on a plugin update right now that will be compatible with Graphisoft ARM on Apple Silicon Macs. The current expected release for that plugin update is around the end of Q1 (around a month or so), which should be around the same time that we release the complete Twinmotion 2023.1 version.
Best,
Raghib
Hi Raghib:
Thank you for the update. I will look forward to an Apple Silicon M1 update of both Twinmotion and Datasmith in about a month!
Best regards,
Mark
Hi ,
Work is still being done to bring Twinmotion to natively run on Apple Silicon. It won't be ready for the 2023.1 final update, and we don't have an expected date for this yet. For now, we recommend working on Twinmotion 2022.2.3, which is our most stable build for Apple Silicon computers.
In the meantime, we were able to release Apple Silicon native versions of the SketchUp and Archicad plugins with the 2023.1 Preview 2 release now compatible with Twinmotion. Once the final 2023.1 release is ready, these may help improve your workflows.
Best,
Raghib
Hello Raghib
What is currently the best version to work on with a Apple Silicon m1 or m2 device?
Have you had any updates and improvement since on apple devices since last year?
Best Regards
Vik
Hi ,
Currently, Twinmotion 2023.1.2 and 2023.2 both support Apple Silicon (M1, M2, and M3 chips). While Twinmotion does not leverage the full power of running natively on these chips, all functionality will work and is supported.

Raghib

Hi Raghib,
Does this mean we now have pathtracing on the m3?
Thanks,
Dan
Yeah same question from me :)
Hi ,
It is too early to say. While we would like to add this, it will first require work on both the Apple and Unreal Engine side to make sure Unreal Engine is able to support hardware raytracing through Metal. Only after Unreal Engine is able to support Apple raytracing will Twinmotion be able to begin implementing this.
Best,
Raghib
Apple M4 chips are declared to support hardware raytracing.
