On a system where we have Twinmotion for Revit 2022.2.3 and testing Twinmotion 2023.1 Preview, how do I set Direct Link to use Twinmotion for Revit 2022.2.3 instead of the Preview release?
I found that TM4Revit will load from "C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Twinmotion202#.#\" instead of TM4Revit. So to work around this and force it to use the new TM4Revit release with Revit 2023.1 I created a symbolic link from the new TM4Revit 2023.1 install to Twinmotion2023.1 folder.
mklink /d "C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Twinmotion2023.1" "C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Twinmotion 2023.1-Revit"
Hello ,
Thank you for posting in the community and at this time the Open in Twinmotion opens the latest version installed that corresponds to the compatible version with Revit.
Revit 2023.1 open in Twinmotion will look for 2022.2.3 unless 2023.1 is installed
Revit 2024 open in Twinmotion will look for 2023.1
Keep in mind with Twinmotion 2023.1 you will need Datasmith exporter plugin 5.1 to be installed to work with Revit 2023.1 but is already built-in Revit 2024. Hope this helps answer you question and glad you found a way to get it to work with your setup/config.
Kind regards,
Vincent B.
I installed the Datasmith 5.1.1 Revit Plugins. It works as expected with the symbolic link. The only thing I noticed is Revit 2023.1 has the Datasmith Tab as well as the exporter in the View tab. Is there any way to hide the Datasmoth Tab?
Thanks,
-Eric
Hello ,
Thank you for the follow-up message and this is not possible as the Datasmith tab is needed for 5.1.1 in Revit 2023 and below as there is a select view option present.
So you may need to go to that menu if its set to the wrong view you are trying to sync.
Note: That feature is not present in Revit 2024.
Kind regards,
Vincent B.
