I updated to Twinmotion 2023.2 (previously used Twinmotion 2023.1) and when I try to open the softtware directly or from Revit it crashes and I get the warning below.
I was able to open it previously before I factory reset my computer but now it doesn’t open at all. Has anyone else had this problem before or know a work around?
I am facing the same issue
I’m facing this issue VERY frequently since the last 2 versions, it’s annoying beyond words. There’s not even a pattern, something I know I should avoid. It just don’t feel like working.
I’ve tried:
-Restart
-Update gpu drivers
-update windows
-update twinmotion
-launching it from epic player
-launching it as administrator
-Deleting a bunch of folders with log files, crash reports, random stuff that tends to accumulate (look into it)
-working around TDr Delay values
-Overclocking the gpu
-Not overclocking the gpu
-Use only twinmotion and not any other program in the background
It’s honestly giving ptsd working while manually saving very often cause you don’t know when it’s gonna crash again and refuse to reopen for the next 6 attempts.

@twinmotion please HELP
Having the same issue… Was anyone able to find a solution to open the file?
This same Issue I have been facing for the past 3 months and still have no solution.
The data associated with your login ID we receive are related to 4 different GPU crashes. Three of those are caused by running out of VRAM.
Interestingly, you say it happens on software opening. If this still happens, please post the following.
- the login ID you used to send your crash report,
- the date on which you send your crash report,
- the log file associated with your faulty execution of Twinmotion.
This may help us to identify the cause and provide you with a solution.
Same issues. Narrowing it down to the video card. After re-installing the graphics card firmware and Twinmotion things run ok…for a while…then crash!
I just downloaded 2023.2.3 comm edition.
unworkable and very slow. Opening and closing takes approx. hour?
using Quadro RTX 5000 32mb
The same thing happens. I installed the new version 2023.2.4 and it crashes on startup. But the old version 2023.1.2 works stably. I tried different solutions, but nothing helped. @twinmotion How to fix this? Help me please.
Have you been able to find a solution to this problem? I have the same thing…
G’day, Sir! I have the same problem. Tried sending the report multiple times, hope you may help us as soon as possible. Thank you!

Same issue here. Funny because it works on my work pc (latest version of TM), now just downloaded same version at home with a brand new pc and 4080 graphics card but can’t open it.
I have a similar issue in which it simply does not want to open Twinmotion from first start of the app and from Revit as well. Please help me resolve it
This crash is being investigated on our side, it seems different from the first one mentioned in this thread. All related crashes seem to point to the Revit 24.1 version. Some smart people believe this is due to incorrect read/write permissions.
Hi all. I worked with support to fix this issue. This crashing issue with anything past version 2023.2.1 is a result of Twinmotion not playing friendly with certain GPU’s when trying to launch with DirectX 12. Try the following for the fix:
For the Epic Games Launcher version, do the following:
- Open the Epic Games Launcher
- Locate your Twinmotion installation
- Go to the Library page
- Select the ellipses (there dots icon) for More Options
- Select Manage
- Enable the toggle for Launch Options and enter -d3d11 in the text field.
For other versions (i.e. Twinmotion downloaded from AutoDesk and not launched through the Epic Gams Launcher), do the following:
- Open a Windows explorer window and navigate to C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\AppData\Local\Twinmotion\Saved\Config
- Manually create a folder here named “WindowsEditor”
- In this folder copy the “GameUserSettings.ini” file from C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\AppData\Local\Twinmotion\Saved\Config\Windows and add these two lines at the bottom of the “TMUserSettings” section: " * tm.bq.PreferredRHI=DX11" and " * PreferredRHI=DX11"
- Save the file (these two settings force Twinmotion to open in DX11 mode)
- Try launching Twinmotion 2024
Hey, i have the same crashreport.
I can open Twinmotion and do some stuff but it crashes unpredictable, sometimes two times in 5 min sometimes after 10 min. And the scene has like two objects in it.
I tried every step i could find on the internet, nothing helps. I dont have crash problems when im working on heavy scnenes in blender, i also run the FurMark test for 1 1/2 hours in 4K without any issues or crashes. So iam a little bit lost now.
It crash with Twinmotion 2025.1 Preview 2 and also the version before, with Direct X 11 or 12 no matter.
