Just updated, and noticing the following:
- Still running as Intel
- Slow and unresponsive (frequent freezes) on large files
- SketchUp plugin still not working
- Lost all the Skydomes attributed to image scenes
Just updated, and noticing the following:
Hello ,
Thank you for your feedback.
I assume you're using an M1-based Mac computer. Currently, we're still working on building support for M1-based machines in Twinmotion and Datasmith. For Twinmotion, we're currently targeting later this year or early next year to release support. I do not have an estimate for when to expect Datasmith to support M1. Since M1 support isn't available yet, Twinmotion has been known to encounter issues like freezing on this hardware. Similarly, SketchUp cannot run natively on an M1 machine.
Following the steps in the Twinmotion is not visible after splash screen article has been known to help resolve some issues such as freezing when using an M1 device.
For SketchUp, you will need to open SketchUp using the Open in Rosetta option in the program's Info window.
For the Skydomes issue, is this for a file that was converted to Twinmotion 2022.2 Preview 2 from a previous version? If so, each version of Twinmotion has its own locally stored Cloud Library files, so a new version, such as 2022.2 PR 2 will not have any Cloud assets downloaded when you first start the program, and you will need to re-download any assets used in an older version.
Best,
Raghib
Hi Raghib,
Thanks for getting back to me. Absolutely, you assumed correctly that I’m on a M1 mac. I understand that it’s got to be hard to update your software when new hardware becomes available. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take you to the end of the year to support Apple Silicon. Do you have a date when 2022 will be out of preview?
I have to correct you on one detail, SketchUp is definitely running natively on M1 now.
Thanks for the tip to resolve freezing, I’ll try that and see if it makes a difference.
I’ve been opening SketchUp in Rosetta for all my Datasmith exporting, ever since I read about it on the forum a few months ago.
Thanks for the skydome hint. Is there a way of creating a cloud version of this so that I can always link to that no matter what the version?
Best,
Luc
